Protect yourself from identity theft. Federal law requires each of the major credit bureaus to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months to ensure that the information on all of your credit reports is correct and up to date.

You can order your free annual credit report through a central website set up by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC): www.annualcreditreport.com. Be sure to go directly through the FTC site to get a free report. If you go to each of the individual credit bureau sites, you may be charged for your credit report.

Free credit reports can also be ordered through a toll-free number, 877-322-8228, or by writing:

If you have already received your free credit reports for the year, but want to see another copy, you can order a copy of your credit report from each of the three major credit bureaus. Each credit bureau will charge you approximately $8-$9.
