7 17’s Visa® Affinity Credit Card Program Press Release

Visa® 7 17 Credit Union introduces a credit card with a purpose; when you swipe, we donate

Greater Warren-Youngstown Urban League will be first to benefit from new card

7 17 Credit Union announced today it is partnering with local organizations to launch an affinity credit card program to provide another opportunity to bolster its mission to support the communities they serve.

When an organization becomes a 7 17 Credit Union affinity credit card partner, they can provide a credit card to their supporters that is not only co-branded specifically for that organization but also provides financial support for their identified initiatives. With every swipe and purchase, 7 17 donates 7.17 cents to that organization – all at no cost to its members. Across thousands of transactions, that can add up to significant dollars that can help make a real impact.

“This is a tangible way to give back to our communities with everyday purchases and illustrates how banking local can send ripples of positive change throughout our community - with the simplicity of every swipe,” said 7 17 Credit Union President and CEO John Demmler. “When we bank with purpose, we build a stronger community.”

On top of the give back to local organizations, the 7 17 Credit Union VISA® affinity cards come with competitive rates, and a low 7.17% introductory rate for all purchases and balance transfers for the first three months.

The Greater Warren-Youngstown Urban League is the first organization to join the affinity card program. Funds raised through the card’s give-back function will be used to support initiatives to improve financial literacy, improve housing opportunities, and more.

“We are excited about this partnership with 7 17,” said Thomas Conley, President and CEO of the Greater Warren-Youngstown Urban League. “The proceeds from this program will support all Urban League initiatives, including programs for homeless youth, our homeless shelter, and financial literacy, among others.”

The credit union expects to announce several additional partnerships soon. Examples of potential types of affinity organizations could include non-profits, universities, professional organizations, schools, and sports teams.

Applications for the Greater Warren-Youngstown Urban League credit card will be available in early Spring.
